What a crazy week. It seems like an absolute whirlwind has just come to a stop. We are still adjusting to the fact that we are pregnant. I giggled yesterday when I said it out loud. It sounded so very strange. A is making the doctor’s appointment today so that will give us another milestone to look forward to. Until we see a heartbeat it is real hard to remind ourselves this is real…. Although, A. requested that I still take my temperature every morning as proof we are still pregnant… I obliged. This morning we even took a pregnancy test. We had one left over. It was amazing how fast the line came up, it was instantaneous.
We told A’s mom last night and she was beside herself. One of her first questions was, “When can I start shopping” We told her right away, but asked her not to give us anything until Easter. So we are done telling people until Easter… we will be 13 weeks then…
A. jumped on the Blog Wagon
She humbly started a blog. I think she saw how much I was enjoying it. Find her here, Life of the Other Mother 2B.
The Business of Being Born
Holy Cow, what an awesome movie. A local midwives circle held a showing yesterday at our local antique movie theatre the Byrd. It was packed with babies and pregnant bellies. I feel very fortunate that I was pregnant, or the whole experience could have been overwhelming. The film was great – a wonderful story about c-sections, home births, midwives, and medicine. Kinda drilled home the fact that we are in the minority in what we want. There was a panel discussion afterwards where one of the nurses on the panel actually suggested that we negotiate with the nurses for our care (ie how much and when to get drugs.) Freaked us both out, so I think we are back to the drawing board. We have lots of time to figure it out, but it is scary.
Symptoms
Not much to speak of. Random stomach pains. Kinda feels like I’ve done a bunch of sit-ups. A little more hungry. New breakfast of 2 hard boiled eggs seems to keep any wooziness in check. Tired. Thats really it so far, knock on wood.
