Two tags and an Update

Wow… I feel special. I got two tags in one day. I was starting to get sad that I hadn’t been tagged. I’ll do an update first and then respond to the inquiries.

So I am still pregnant and showing for sure. I am not yet enjoying the bliss of the second trimester that everyone talks about but as our midwife reminded us – all women are different. I still have food aversions and queeziness – but the sheer exhaustion seems to be lifting a bit. Lots of non pregnancy related things have been going on at work, at home (I’ll write the plumbing post update soon… it was bad bad bad and I have pictures) So thats been absorbing lots of our time.

In baby related items, I am currently on a quest for the perfect fabric. I really want some polka dots that look kinda vintage. I am not going for a cutsey-matchy-matchy room which is why we’ve decided to make as much as we can. A’s mom is making the crib items, I’ll be making some side items, and my grandmother is making the curtains. I think we found a pattern I loved loved loved. And maybe even the fabric. I need to pull A into the discussion and see what she thinks. The overall motif is this – yellow walls…. and four creatures. Our friend in drawing retro 50’s super round animals – a bumblebee, a lady bug, a caterpillar, and a dragonfly – in yellow, red, blue, and green. They will feature prominent stripes or polka-dots as is their make-up. We are going to make four paintings and them carry those items throughout the room… so I’ve been searching for a polka-dot fabric (see below)

Other than that not much to report – typical pregnancy things I think. My gums started bleeding this week when i floss, bending over feels different. I was doing laundry last night and A. said, “I think I’m going to have to start doing that soon – I don’t know how much longer you are going to be able to bend over.” My feet have started to ache by the end of the day. Still craving bacon and chocolate milk. I have one 1/2 glass of milk every morning now… thats about it.

What is on my bedside table?

The rules -
Reference back to the blog that tagged you. Then post what you’ve got on the table (chair, nightstand, whatever) beside your bed. Leave nothing out. Nothing. Tag 3 other folks.

Okay – I’ll have to fess up that mine was cleaned yesterday. I like to spend thirty minutes cleaning the bedroom every sunday. I tend to be messy with jewelry and clothes during the week and this helps me get ready for the work week. So my table was made by my grandfather. It has only one drawer and I am doing this from memory.
On Top:
Water glass with a card covering the top (my cat likes to drink out of it in the middle of the night)
Yummy goats milk lotion from Charlottesville, VA
face lotion (for the sunburn I managed to get in the 45 degree weather this weekend)
lamp
small dish with an asian watercolor like painting in the bottom. Holding a few pieces of jewerly. Currently it is where I am putting my wedding rings since about every two days I seem to be retaining enough water to warrant needing to remove them.
In the Drawer
love notes from A.
the story of our bed (made by A the first time we ever spent several days apart – she chronicled the story of making it. It was a total surprise.)
my passport, hair clips, bobby pins, a flashlight, a BBT, nail file.
Tucked in the side of my bed
Book of Poetry by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Memoir entitled, the Devil is in the Details, and some stray socks.
Underneath
A dog toy.

Meme Rules:
Step 1. Reference back to the blog that sent you.
Step 2. Make a list of 5 things that you have to get done this week, no matter how small.

Step 3. Get 2 other people off their asses to get their shit in order.

1. Call the City of Richmond to get a right of-way determination on who owns the 18 in patch of grass between our retaining wall and the sidewalk where it turns out the plumbing problem exists. (the full story is worthy of another post)
2. Buy a pair of black maternity pants.
3. Buy some boxes/crates to begin moving clothes into storage. (yep – its official nothing without elastic fits)
4. send my cousin a thank you note for the first donation of maternity clothes. She is currently 37 weeks pregnant and promises more once she delivers.
5. keep scouring the internet in search of the perfect fabric for the baby room… although… i may have found it this weekend (But i need to get A’s opinion first)

I’m not tagging anyone because I can’t keep track of who has been tagged…  so if youare sad no one tagged you email me or post a comment and I’ll tag you.
